2023 / Conceptual Photography

Lost in Zero-COVID is a series of elaborately staged photographs that convey my own perspective on the Zero-COVID policy in China. The photographs employ cinematic lighting which emulates the style of propaganda posters used during Mao’s regime. These images include an element of satire, questioning whether the Chinese state’s restrictive policy was appropriate or harmful.

The second component of the project consists of photographs of exterior environments, with highly stylized locations made to seem surreal. The pictures are fully staged and contain narrative elements, some of which are unexpected.
